SWINE FLU PRECAUTIONS

Swine flu is a respiratory disease caused by influenza viruses that infect the respiratory tract of pigs and result in a barking cough, decreased appetite, nasal secretions, and listless behavior; the virus can be transmitted to humans.
According to the WHO Influenza update - 303, Update number 303, based on data up to 12 November 2017 A lot of countries have experience the outbreak of a type of  the influenza virus with the latest detection in my home country Ghana. Since this disease is also an  air borne disease a lot of people stand at risk find below, A few precautions you can take ,

Stay Home
If you are sick or have any flu-like symptoms, stay home and consult your doctor. Do not go to school or work. Swine flu symptoms may mimic those of regular flu and cold symptoms.

Contain Your Cough
Cough or sneeze into the crook (inside elbow) of your arm. This way you do not transfer the germs to your hands and then to every object you touch. Swine flu is very contagious, and can spread easily by touching an infected object and then touching your face. A flu mask will help you avoid infection in enclosed spaces.

Wash Hands Frequently

Wash hands constantly to avoid swine flu. Anything you touch may be affected, so keeping hands clean will help you avoid infection.

Hand Sanitizer
Carry hand sanitizer with you. If you have things others have touched, use your hand sanitizer to avoid swine flu infection. In addition, avoid shaking hands or other hand to hand contact whenever possible. Also avoid kissing on the cheek or other face to face contact as a greeting method.

Public Facilities

Touch public handles and pens as little as possible. These are loaded with germs that may carry the swine flu virus.

Air Travel
When you fly, be most diligent about following these guidelines. Transferring any flu, including swine flu, is most likely in close quarters like an airplane.

Clean Your Produce
The life span of a virus is different for each and can vary from as much as 48 hours to 100 years depending on the hardiness of the virus. Although there have been no known cases of swine flu transmission through fruit and vegetable consumption, there does seem to be some concern about the possibility. The best bet is to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables if possible. Make sure you wash your fruits and vegetables with water, and soak for greater effectiveness. Washes and using chlorinated rinses have not been proven to work. So far there have been no cases of swine flu transmission through fruits and vegetable sources.

Avoid Crowds
Stay out of crowds as much as possible. Close proximity to other people will heighten your chances of to get swine flu. Wear a surgical mask in areas of high traffic concentration. Try to stay at least 3-6 feet away from people.

Eating and Drinking
Do not eat or drink after others without complete sanitization of containers or utensils. Swine flu can be transmitted by contact with infected eating utensils.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are not effective against the H1N1 virus. If you contract the virus get to the doctor within 36 hours and ask for Tamiflu or Relenza. These antiviral medicines will halt the progression of H1N1 or Swine flu virus.

Visit Your Doctor
Get to a doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of swine flu including high fever and body aches. Swine flu can be deadly, and it is imperative to get to a physician immediately if you think you have swine flu symptoms and think you might have contracted the swine flu virus. Both Tamiflu and Relenza are antiviral medicines that are currently effective against some strains of Swine Flu. These medicines should be taken within 36 hours of flu infection for maximum effectiveness.consult the doctor  or a physician first before taking any of these medications .

4 WORST FOODS FOR YOUR SKIN

>With the skin being your largest organ, the skin performs three main functions: protection, regulation and sensation. It is very important that we pay attention to our skin. Getting a healthy skin isn't all about using the best and expensive lotions there is, it’s also about eating the right foods which internally will make your skin healthy and youthful to last you a lifetime. When you go through this blog /site, you will realize I have quite a few articles on how to maintain a healthy skin in an organic way see http://webfuntaiment.blogspot.com/2017/02/how-to-get-youthful-skin-using.html,
Today we look at 4 worst foods for your skin.

1. PROCESSED BEVERAGES, ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS, COLORING AND FLAVORINGS
The term Processed food applies to any food that has been altered from its natural state in some way, either for safety reasons or convenience.
Most processed foods especially fruit juices just to name a few that we see on the market does not actually contain real fruits juice, these beverages are just water, lots of sugar, artificial color and flavor. Eating the real fruit like pawpaw and coconut will actually benefit your skin than buying processed pawpaw or coconut drink which might have no nutrients all.
Not all processed food is a bad choice. Some foods need processing to make them safe, such as milk, which needs to be pasteurized to remove harmful bacteria. Other foods need processing to make them suitable for use, such as pressing seeds to make oil.

2. PROCESSED MEAT
With industrial farming methods, animals are frequently fed a Dosages of growth hormones steroids, and inorganic antibiotics.  These farm animals aren’t fed their natural herbivore diet, but rather are stuffed with chemical foods to make them fatter and grow faster, not healthier. When we eat these animals, by default, we get a dose of their diet. These compounds can create hormonal imbalances in our bodies, which can lead to acne and inflammation. Additionally, animal meats in general are more difficult on our digestive systems, and if we aren’t getting enough water and fiber in our diets, meats can get stuck in our digestive system, where they decay and cause us to fall sick.

3. NON-ORGANIC FOODS
Non-organic food can contain pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other chemicals which 80% of the time is and can be harmful to our health and effect show symptoms on our skin. Certain pesticides and fertilizers have been found to have links to a variety of diseases and health conditions. Our bodies don’t recognize these chemicals and they often create an inflammatory response. Eating organic foods provides your body with necessary nutrient which are the building blocks of a healthy complexion that our body needs, the better our skin will look and perform.

4. HYDROGENATED FATS AND FRIED FOODS
What is a hydrogenated fat?
Hydrogenated fats are unnatural fats that are detrimental to your health. Food fats naturally occur in three general types: Saturated (e.g., butter, lard, coconut oil) Monounsaturated (e.g., olive or canola oils) Oils that sit and are used over again, like the vat your French fries are cooked in, are really bad, because these fats are thicker and don’t detox from the body. They can contribute to heart disease, poor circulation of the blood and a weakened metabolic process. Since healthy skin requires healthy circulation and metabolism, weak systems can lead to a lack of oxygen in the skin, slowing the collagen and elastic syntheses necessary for youthful radiance.

6 FOODS YOU SHOULDN'T REFRIGERATE

When it comes to storing food, there is always conflicting advice. we like to treat the fridge as a safe-haven for all things food and drink, You might have grown up seeing your mum put all kinds of in the fridge - only to be told by a friend or YouTube  years later that that's not right. Putting these foods into the fridge won’t cause you any harm; however, it can certainly cause a nuisance for your palate as textures and tastes become ruined to avoid removing the taste from your food, here are some seven foods you shouldn’t put into the fridge. Let me know if you agree or disagree with the advice given

No.1 Bread
Breads don’t tend to do that well being stored in the fridge .Bread dries out and goes stale much more quickly in the fridge, which isn't what you want when you bite into your lunchtime sandwich.
Try storing it in a cool, dry place. A bread bin or bread bags would be a good start.

No.2 Tomatoes
The biggest problem with storing tomatoes in the fridge is that the cold temperature begins to play havoc, altering the taste and texture
Refrigerating tomatoes actually damages the membrane inside the fruit
Have u ever had a salad with that tomato that tasted bit watery and icy, Chances are those tomatoes have been in cold storage for a while.
There’s no need refrigerating tomatoes if u will use it in a few days. Leave it on the counter and it will develop more flavor over that few days.

No.3 Onions
Apparently onions do best in dry, well-ventilated areas. What's more, if they're in the fridge they could taint the taste of your other groceries. Remember to keep them in a dark place or they'll start sprouting

No.4 Potatoes
Potatoes are the one food you should never, ever store in the fridge .the cold temperature generally starts to break down the starch within potatoes; therefore, refrigerating it will leave you with a sweet or gritty potato, which rarely tastes good at this stage no matter what you do with it.

No.5 Avocado
There's nothing more annoying and depressing than an unripe avocado. Well, keeping it in the fridge isn't going to help. Apparently the cool temperature hinders the ripening process. Avocado is from tropical climates and their cells have no natural defense against the cold
I recommends you keep them in 'brown open bags' to ripen

No.6 HONEY
A 1000 year old honey, will still be as fresh as the day it was harvested –honey a naturally preserved food. Putting honey into the fridge will increase the speed of the sugar crystallization which turns it into an almost dough-like form, making for a hard time to scoop out.

How To Get A Youthful Skin Using Papaya(Pawpaw)

People always want to know what’s the best skin preparation to help regain a more youthful look. I released
that one of the best anti-aging, skin rejuvenation, products is really not one of those expensive products after all. Rather, it’s a product of Nature that you can buy relatively cheaply in the  market  or  your local grocery stores  –PAWPAW or PAPAYA
Papaya is native to Central and northern South America  and has become naturalized throughout the Caribbean Islands, Florida and several countries of Africa. Additional crops are grown in India, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the U.S. state of Hawaii.

Gaining in popularity among tropical fruits worldwide, papaya is now ranked fourth in total tropical fruit production after bananas, oranges, and mango.

Reap The Anti-Aging Skin Benefits of Papaya

I’ve always believed that your skin – being one of the largest organs of your body – will reflect the health of your inner body on your outer skin.  Without adequate antioxidants in your diet, your skin will start to show the free radical ‘oxidation’ damage going on internally.

eating of Pawpaw  or Papaya  gets rid of dull, grayish complexions dotted with many age spots, sagging, lines and furrows, looking older than their years, kindly eat  more fruits and vegetables, get the processed “junk foods” out of their diet, these junk food tastes great in your mouth but sometimes all we are doing is digging our own grave with our folk and knives .

Papaya can work wonders on tired, “old” looking skin. It’s high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C and also contains Vitamin E, so it has a significant antioxidant value.  Applying papaya to your skin has an amazing tightening, as well as brightening, effect. It’s abundant in natural alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) which is an ingredient in those expensive anti-aging skin formulas.  It acts as a gentle exfoliator as well as a skin brightener.  Whenever you exfoliate the dark, dead skin cells, the skin will appear lighter, brighter, clearer and more youthful looking.

Here are some ways to use papaya to reap its full skin benefit:

To brighten:  Scoop out the papaya fruit to eat but save the peel. No more than 3 times a week, rub the peel across your freshly washed skin (face or hands, wherever the dark age spots are) and leave for 5 minutes then rinse completely off with cold water.  AHA is concentrated in the papaya peel so you might start to get dryness and irritation if you do this too frequently or leave it on too long.  You might experiment with up to 7 minutes to reap more effect as long as drying or redness don’t occur. Use a good moisturizer afterwards . You can also use natural sunscreen products that contain titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to protect you from UVA and UVB rays.  I like a few drops of pure coconut or palm oil.  Olive oil works good too but can tend to leave a greenish tint to the skin if you use the very dark, extra virgin oils.

To tighten/tone:  Mash, or puree in a blender, the papaya fruit with several drops of whole milk, half/half, or whipping cream, and apply to your face, neck, décolleté. The fat in the milk/cream slows down the AHA so as not to dry the skin out.   Leave for 15 minutes and wash off with cold water.  Apply moisturizer.  You should notice a tighter, more toned look to face and neck skin.

    To hydrate/moisturize:
Mash/puree papaya fruit with honey or refrigerated (hardened) coconut oil and apply to your face.  Leave for 15 minutes then rinse with cold water.  This has both a moisturizing and tightening effect and can be used on drier, or more sensitive, skins.  Use a light UV containing moisturizer afterwards.

NOTE: Now, if you’ve never eaten papaya fruit, before, be sure you don’t have an allergy to it before eating it or using it on your skin.  If you have other tropical fruit allergies, or any food allergies, there may be a chance that you could react to papaya as well.
Take a very small amount of papaya and rub it on the inside skin of your wrist.  If your skin reddens, itches, or swells, you may be allergic to it. Tell your doctor about your reaction and ask if you can safely eat, or use, papaya on your skin before doing so.

Nature provides some incredible nutrients, like papaya, that not only help you stay healthy on the inside, but keep your skin looking youthful well into your older years.

5 HEALTHY FOODS THAT FIGHTS AGAINST COLD & FLU

Hello Guys before we look at the foods that fights cold, lets learn a Little more about what Cold really is, how to prevent them, how long it last and how to get rid of it.

Although many types of viruses can cause a common cold, rhinoviruses are the most common culprit. A cold virus enters your body through your mouth, eyes or nose. The virus can spread through droplets in the air when someone who is sick coughs, sneezes or talks.

How long does a cold last for?
Cold symptoms usually appear 2 or 3 days after a person has been exposed to a source of infection. People with colds are most contagious for the first 3 or 4 days after the symptoms appear and may be contagious for up to 3 weeks. Although some colds can linger for as long as 2 weeks, most clear up within a week.

Signs and symptoms, of cold  can vary from person to person, might include:

    Runny or stuffy nose.
    Sore throat.
    Cough.
    Congestion.
Slight body aches or a mild headache.
    Sneezing.
    Low-grade fever.
    Generally feeling unwell (malaise)

There's no vaccine for the common cold, but you can take common-sense precautions to slow the spread of cold viruses: Wash your hands. Clean your hands thoroughly and often with soap and water, and teach your children the importance of hand-washing.

 Ginger
Ginger is known as the universal medicine .  ginger helps break down mucous to help clear your respiratory tract and alleviate symptoms of congestion. It also contains phytochemicals that help fight viruses that can cause respiratory illnesses.  use fresh ginger in teas and cooked with food.

Vitamin C, also known as Ascorbic Acid include the treatment of the common cold, boosting the immune system, The important sources of Vitamin C are any citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapes. Strawberries, raspberries, cabbages, cauliflower, other leafy vegetables, red peppers, potatoes, broccoli, chilies, watercress, parsley, Brussels sprouts, cantaloupes, mange tout, and kiwi fruits are also rich sources of this vitamin.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is known to help keep certain parts of the body, like the lining of the digestive tract, healthy. This helps prevent infection because the digestive tract is a physical barrier to infection and illness.

vitamin A foods include sweet potatoes, carrots, dark leafy greens, winter squashes, lettuce, dried apricots, cantaloupe, bell peppers, fish, liver, and tropical fruits.

 Chicken Soup
You should eat chicken soup when you’re sick. This age-old elixir combines many elements that help
speed your recovery. The warm broth not only soothes your throat but helps you stay hydrated, too. “Hot liquid, like soup, raises the temperature in your body and airways, loosening mucus secretion.

Beef

If you want to boost your immune system, eat some beef. “Beef is a good source of zinc, and zinc is important in the development of the white blood cells that defend your body,”  Research has shown that having a zinc deficiency decreases a person’s immune function and response. Plus, the extra protein you get from chowing down on beef supports the body in building antibodies and fighting off infection,
