THE 7 MOST DANGEROUS ACTS AFTER A MEAL

We all have our habits that we intend to perform after we’ve had a meal. Put it turns out, some of them might be dangerous to your health.
These are the 7 most dangerous:
1.Don’t smoke A research done from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

Don’t eat fruits immediately When you eat your fruits with meals, the fruit is stuck in the stomach along with the contents of the meals and cannot reach the intestines in time. Lying there they get spoilt and spoil the remaining food in the stomach too. Thus it is recommended that you eat a fruit at least one hour after eating a meal or before your meal and preferably in the morning with empty stomach. It is in the morning that the body can best use the nutrients in the fruit and get enough energy to start the day.
Don’t drink tea – The reason for this is the high acidity of the tea leafs. It will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest. It is preferable to drink tea an hour after meals.
Don’t loosen your belt Some people have a habit to loosen their belt after a good meal. However, loosening the belt is bad, not because it causes the intestines to twist or block but because it means that you have over eaten to a level that you are uncomfortable. Loosening of the belt may also cause you to feel comfortable once again which means you may continue overeating. So eat only to the extent that you can be comfortable without loosening your belt!
Don’t bathe – Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.
Don’t walk or have any exercise Fact, it is bad for you! Walking directly after meals is a bad idea; it can result to acid reflux and indigestion. However, walking about half an hour after meals is known to be good for you. You should ideally walk for about 10 minutes and only 20-30 minutes after meal to prevent acid reflux and stomach upsets.
Don’t sleep immediately – And as you may already know, the reason for this is that the food will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

2. Don’t drink soda, coke and other carbonated soft drinks. They dehydrate your skin.
3. Avoid antiseptic soap. You should use it only when you have some skin problems or an infection. This kind of soap should be used only for short periods of time, and only for treatment. .
4. Don’t forget to apply oily creams to keep the skin healthy. Your clothes should be weather friendly as well.
5. Use special lip balms and apply some oily cream or Vaseline or the almighty shea better  to the soles of the feet. It will help to prevent them from cracking.
6. If your hair is long, you should keep it moisturized. Have hairstyles that keep the ends of your hair hidden. You can also wrap it to protect your hair from the dust.

10 Foods That You Should Immediately Stop Eating

All our food we consume and that is available we really need to try to be careful of what do we eat. For many harmful products of fat and artificial additives there is an excellent substitute in some natural products.
Therefore, it shouldn’t be too difficult to reject these 10 foods from our everyday meals:
Chips
A small bag of chips contains 125 calories, 10 grams of fat where 3 grams are saturated. If every other day you eat a bag of chips, in a year you will enter 23.400 calories. Replace it with popcorn –it’s so much healthier.
French fries
No matter how tasty it is as an appetizer or a main meal, a large portion of French fries is used in restaurants and contains about 570 calories. If it is a hamburger, add plus 670 calories.
Fresh white bread
A piece of white bread has 65 calories. There is no great nutritional value, it doesn’t contains enough vitamins and minerals, just creates a false sense of satiety.
Soda
Right now, soda is arguably public enemy number-one—and for good reason. The list of reasons you shouldn’t drink the stuff are staggering. Among them, you’ve got weight gain, diabetes, and heart disease.
Well, according to 2014 study in the American Journal of Public Health, drinking soda can age you by as much as smoking. It’s something to think about
. Margarine
Billed as a healthy alternative to butter, margarine’s trans fats, which put you at risk for heart disease and diabetes, are far worse than the natural saturated fat you’ll find in butter, Fear says. Does your margarine’s label say, “0 trans fat.” That might be a flat-out lie. The Food and Drug Administration currently allows food manufacturers to claim their products are trans-fat free as long as they contain less than 0.5 grams of trans fat in each recommended serving. While you’re tossing out your margarine, you should also take a look at the labels on any frozen food and bakery items you have in your kitchen. Many contain margarine as an ingredient, Fear says.
Fast-Food Burgers
“Ultra cheap food is made from ultra cheap ingredients, and burgers are no different,” Fear says. “Even if you try to minimize the bacon, fries, soda, cheeses, and sauces added to your fast-food meal, the meat in your burger is a far cry from what you’d buy from a butcher. In one Annals of Diagnostic Pathology study, researchers studied eight fast-food brands and found that all of their burgers contained between 2.1 percent and 14.8 percent meat. The rest was water, connective tissue, blood vessels, nerves, fat, cartilage, and, in some, even parasites.
Donut
White sugar, white flour, margarine and all fried in flour. Average donut contains 200 calories and 12 grams of fat. Instead of carbohydrates you should eat sweets of whole grains flour.
Cream and topping
Juicy and delicious sweets with cream and topping no one can resist, but one teaspoon of topping has 32 calories, and no one can keep only one. If you can completely avoid them, than as a replacement is excellent fruit yogurt.
Sausages
Whether you eat sausages for breakfast or as an appetizer with beer, they are equally undesirable for your body. The average pork sausage contains 217 calories and 20 grams of fat. If you love them so much, and you have to eat them, replace them with chicken or vegetarian sausages with soy.
Fried chicken
If chicken white meat is fried in oil, then there will be about 400 calories and 22 grams of fat. Replace frying with grill frying, boiling or baking in the oven and get a healthier meal.

The Benefits of Water Therapy – Advantages of Drinking Water in the Morning

Did You Know…that drinking water in the morning immediately upon waking up can have amazing therapeutic effects for a multitude of health conditions—ranging from pain to asthma to cancer?
This remarkable water therapy originates from ancient Ayurvedic medicine. In Sanskrit, the name for the practice is Usha Paana Chikitsa, which roughly translates to “early morning water treatment.”

Can Water Wash Away Disease?

It has long been known that drinking water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach purifies the body’s internal system. An especially important result of this treatment is that it cleanses the colon, which makes the body much more able to absorb nutrients from food.

This is achieved through the production of new blood, or haematopaises. This fresh blood has an immense restorative effect in the body and can even cure existing ailments.

An Unlikely Prison Discovery—Water as Potent Medicine

Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj discovered the healing powers of water and the link between dehydration and chronic illness 17 years ago. He was then serving a jail sentence as a political prisoner in Iran.
During his imprisonment, Dr. Batmanghelidj used the only medicine available to him—which was water—to successfully treat 3,000 fellow prisoners who were suffering from stress-induced peptic ulcers.
After his release from prison, Dr. Batmanghelidj—who trained in medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School of London—turned his full-time attention to the study of dehydration and its negative health effects. His subsequent discoveries have restored health for hundreds of thousands of individuals who were suffering from unidentified dehydration-related diseases.
In addition to presenting at international and world conferences, Dr. Batmanghelidj has published his findings in a number of scientific journals. He has compiled his research for the general public in two books, Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, and How to Deal with Back Pain and Rheumatoid Joint Pain.
He has even produced a video on back pain and audiotapes of his lectures—all of which have been peer and media reviewed and acclaimed both nationally and internationally.

Dehydration’s Many Disguises

According to Batmanghelidj, the body’s biological thirst signals can be mistaken for signs and symptoms of other illnesses. If we treat the root cause of these—dehydration—we can avoid costly and unnecessary medical interventions and enjoy long-term wellbeing.
“Humans seem to lose their thirst sensation and the critical perception of needing water,” wrote Batmanghelidj in one of his two books on chronic dehydration and water therapy. “Not recognizing their need for water,” he continued, “they gradually become increasingly and chronically dehydrated with the progress of age.”
Further confusion results when the body produces complicated secondary symptoms of dehydration. Many doctors misinterpret those secondary symptoms as unrelated diseases.
These conditions include, but are not limited to:
    o Dyspepsia
    o Rheumatoid arthritis
    o Angina
    o Migraine and headaches
    o Colitis
    o Constipation
    o Hypertension
    o Anemia
    o Obesity
    o Sinusitis
    o Pulmonary tuberculosis
    o Asthma
    o Kidney stones
    o Diabetes
    o Irregular menstruation
    o Leukemia
    o Uterine cancer
    o Breast cancer
A Japanese medical society has also found water therapy to be a 100% cure for arthritis…epilepsy…bronchitis…uberculosis…meningitis…diarrhea…throat diseases…and many other ailments.
Research proves that water therapy can cure these conditions very rapidly on its own—with no other medical treatments! According to the research, water therapy alleviates constipation within a single day, diabetes within one week, and hypertension and even cancer within a month.

How to Maximize the Benefits of Water Therapy

Drinking water in the morning is simple to put into practice, and virtually free! However, there are some important rules to remember. The basic protocol recommend by experts is as follows:
    1. Immediately upon waking in the morning, drink 1.50 liters of water, which is equivalent to 5-6 glasses of water.
    2. Do not eat or drink anything else for 1 hour prior to and after drinking the water.
    3. Do not consume any alcoholic beverages the night before.
At first, it may be difficult to drink 1.50 liters of water at one time; however, your body will gradually get accustomed to the protocol.
When starting out, you may want to make it easier by modifying the protocol slightly, as follows: Drink 4 glasses, then pause for 2 minutes, then drink the last 2 glasses.
It goes without saying that the better the quality of water you consume, the better the results you’ll experience from water therapy.

Easy Garlic Fried Rice

Easy Garlic Fried Rice
INGREDIENTS:
Day-old rice (refrigerated left-over rice)
2 Tablespoons Olive oil (light)
A few crushed garlic (3-5)
1-2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce, or to taste
Dash of salt, or to taste
2 Eggs, beaten
Handful frozen Peas and Corn
INSTRUCTIONS:
Heat about a 1-2 Tablespoon oil in a pan or wok. Saute the garlic until aromatic. Don't let the garlic burn.
Add the cold rice and stir to break the grains apart. Cook until warmed up. Season with a little salt. Add the soy sauce and mix with the rice until most of the grains are coated.
You may scramble the eggs in another pan and just add it later after it's been cooked. But if you have a big enough wok or wide enough pan, create a well/space in the middle of it by pushing the rice to the side. Spray a little oil in the middle and then pour the beaten egg.
Let it set. When the eggs have set enough, flip it over then begin to mix it with the rice breaking it up as you do so. Thereafter, add the frozen peas and corn and continue to stir until the veggies are cooked about 2-3 mins. Season the rice with more soy sauce or salt as needed.
Serve immediately. Easy-peasy delicious!

Easy to try pineapple cake

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups (10 ounces) all purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
zest of 1 lemon
7 ounces unsalted butter, room temperature
¾ cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 20-ounce can crushed pineapple (do not drain - see note)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
optional: fresh whipped cream for serving
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch or 9-inch round cake pan and line it with parchment paper (note: the 8-inch pan cuts it a bit close with the batter when the cake rises in the oven but won't spill over). Place the cake pan on a baking sheet.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, kosher salt and lemon zest (make sure the zest doesn't clump together). Set aside.
In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar together for several minutes until light and fluffy (first on low speed and then gradually increasing the speed to medium high). Turn off the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula.
Turn the mixer back on low speed and add the eggs, one at a time, scraping down the bowl after the second egg. Allow the eggs to incorporate completely and then scrape down the bowl again. This is a lot of eggs so don't worry if the mixture starts to break. The next step will bring it back together.
Add the crushed pineapple along with the vanilla and mix briefly on medium low to combine. With the mixer on low, add the flour mixture in 3 batches and mix until just combined. Turn off the stand mixer and scrape down the bowl with a spatula, giving the batter one final stir.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and use a spatula to level off the top.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before removing the cake from the pan. Serve plain or with freshly whipped cream.
Notes:
If you have sliced pineapple or pineapple chunks (the canned variety), you can make crushed pineapple by pulsing it in a food processor until it's broken down. You want pineapple canned in juice, not in syrup.
Don't drain the canned pineapple. You want all of the pineapple juice in the cake for both flavor and moisture.

Super healthy shrimps

INGREDIENTS:
For the salt and pepper mixture:
2 parts whole peppercorns
1 part sea salt
For the rest of the dish:
1 pound large shrimp, shells on and deveined (with or without heads)
3 tablespoons potato starch or cornstarch
1/3 cup oil for shallow frying
salt and pepper mixture, to taste
6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 long hot green or red pepper, thinly sliced
1 scallion, chopped
INSTRUCTIONS:
To make the salt and pepper mixture:
In a small pot over medium low heat, dry roast the whole peppercorns of your choice for 15 minutes, until very fragrant. Take care not to burn them, adjusting the heat as needed. Cool completely and use a spice grinder or mortar and pestle to grind the peppercorns down to a powder.
In the same pot over medium heat, dry roast the salt until it turns slightly yellow in color. Let it cool and combine it with the ground pepper. You now have your own authentic salt and pepper powder, which you can use in whatever “salt and pepper” dish you like.
To prepare the dish:
Rinse the shrimp and pat them thoroughly dry with a paper towel. Dredge them in potato starch or cornstarch––whatever you’re using.
Heat the oil in a small cast iron skillet to 375 degrees. Quickly lay the shrimp in the oil with about an inch of space in between each shrimp, and fry the shrimp in batches, cooking each side for 30 seconds. Set aside on a paper towel-lined plate, and sprinkle with salt and pepper powder to taste.
In the wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Fry the garlic until just golden brown (careful not to burn it), and set aside to drain on a paper towel lined plate.
Remove any excess oil from the wok, so there's only a tablespoon or so left (you don’t want to use too much oil at this stage, as this is a “dry” dish). Add the peppers to the wok. Turn off the heat, and add the garlic back to the wok, stir-frying everything together for a minute. Add the shrimp to the wok, and gently toss everything for 10 seconds, sprinkling over a bit more of your salt and pepper .

4 Reasons Why You Should Never Skip Breakfast Ever

Are you tired of hearing about how breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Well, this advice probably not going to stop until more of us start eating our morning meals.
About 18 percent of males and 13 percent of females between the ages of 35 and 54 are breakfast skippers, according to a 2011 study by the market research company NPD group.
But the evidence that suggests that breakfast is a meal not-to-be-skipped is overwhelming. In fact, I have never encountered a study that suggests the opposite.
Ghanaian cuisine has diverse traditional dishes from each ethnic group, tribe and clan from the north to the south and from the east to west. Generally, most Ghanaian recipe dishes are made up of a starchy portion (rice, fufu, banku, tuo, gigi, akplidzii, yekeyeke, etew, ato etc) and a sauce or soup saturated with fish, snails, meat or mushrooms.
Some of the main starchy Ghanaian recipe dishes are:
 Cooked rice
 Waakye -  rice and beans

Fufu -  pounded cassava and plantain or pounded yam and plantain, or pounded cocoyam

Banku/Akple -  cooked fermented corn dough and cassava dough

Kenkey/Dokonu - fermented corn and cassava dough, wrapped in corn or banana leaves and cooked into a consistent solid paste

Kokonte - from dried cassava chips

 Gari - made from cassava
However Lets take a look at some of the research showing the possible benefits of breakfast:

Diabetes: Skipping breakfast may increase a woman's diabetes risk, according to a study published this month in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Women who ate breakfast an average of zero to six times per week were at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than women who ate breakfast every day.
Heart Disease: Eating breakfast was associated with a lower incidence of heart disease in men between ages 45 and 82, according to a July study in the journal Circulation. The study also found that skipping breakfast was associated with hypertension, insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels.
Memory: A 2005 Journal of the American Dietetic Association review of 47 breakfast-related studies found that eating breakfast is likely to improve cognitive function related to memory and test grades. Translation: Eating breakfast is a smart move!
Weight Loss: In one recent study, people who ate breakfast as their largest meal lost an average of 17.8 pounds over three months. The other participants consumed the same number of total calories per day, but ate most of their calories at dinner, according to the study published in July in the journal Obesity. The large-dinner group only lost an average of 7.3 pounds each over the same time period.
In a nutshell breakfast is very important and in Ghana  the type of breakfast you eat actually depends on the kind of work you do. for instance Manual workers like people who do heavy jobs should eat breakfasts that contain a lot of protein and carbohydrate but the same time that food should also be balanced with all the necessary nutrients, foods like Waakye or Banku Red Red  and rice  isn't  a bad  idea for breakfast to a Manual worker.

Finally people who do less energy work like those who work in the offices should go for light breakfast foods which is balanced like oats with bread, salad bread with tea and some fruits  etc
i hope this little peace has helped in some way. feel free to leave a comment and always remember to stay healthy.

Nutritional Value of Watermelons

The long list of healthy or beneficial effects of watermelons are mainly derived from its unique nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and organic compounds. These include significant amounts of vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, fiber, protein, and a very large amount of potassium. Furthermore, they contain vitamin A, vitamin B6, niacin, thiamin, and a wide variety of carotenoids and phytonutrients, including lycopene!
These components of watermelons contribute to its major impact on health; let’s explore some more details of those benefits below.

watermelon2Health Benefits of Watermelons

Kidney Disorders:Watermelons contain a lot of potassium, which is very helpful in cleaning or washing out the toxic depositions in the kidneys. Moreover, it is helpful in reducing the concentration of uric acid in the blood, thereby reducing the chances of kidney damage and the formation of renal calculi in that organ. Added to this, being high in water content, it induces frequent urinating, which is again helpful for cleaning of the kidneys. Also, the anti oxidants present in watermelon ensure good health of the kidneys for a long time, and reduce signs of premature aging like wrinkles and age spots on the skin.
Prevents Heat Stroke: Watermelon is effective in reducing both your body temperature and blood pressure. Many people in tropical regions eat this fruit every day in the afternoon during the summer to protect themselves from heat stroke. In India, you will find the fruit being sold by vendors in almost every street during the summer season. The high amount of water contained in watermelon also stimulates a release of excess liquid in the form of sweat, which cools your body further during hot summer days.
High Blood Pressure: The good amount of potassium and magnesium that is present in watermelons is very beneficial in terms of bringing down blood pressure. Potassium is considered a vasodilator, meaning that it releases the tension of blood vessels and arteries, thereby stimulating increased blood flow and reducing the stress on the cardiovascular system. The carotenoids present in these fruits also prevent hardening of artery walls and veins, thereby helping to reduce blood pressure and the chances of blood clots, strokes, heart attacks, and atherosclerosis.
Prevents Cancer: Watermelons have been in the public eye more and more in recent years, primarily because of their impressive level of lycopene, a carotenoid phytonutrient compound that is increasingly being linked to cancer prevention. As the years go by and the studies continue to bring in consistent results, lycopene has been shown to significantly reduce the risks of prostate, breast, colon, lung, and endometrial cancer. All in all, between the antioxidant potential of vitamin C and the impact of lycopene, watermelon is a great anti-cancer fruit!
Diabetes: Diabetic patients, who are supposed to have a low energy and low sugar diet, often complain about starving since they don’t get to eat their staple diets, which gives them the feeling of being half fed. Watermelons can be a good supplement for them. In spite of being sweet in taste, a thick wedge will give you very few calories, since ninety nine percent of its total weight is composed of water and roughage. Moreover, the various vitamins and minerals such as potassium and magnesium help in proper functioning of insulin in the body, thus lowering the blood sugar level. Arginine, another component found in watermelons, is very effective at enhancing the impact of insulin on blood sugar. Diabetic patients can also have curries, steaks, and salads made from water melon rinds, which are even lower in sugar.
Heart Care: Lypocene, a carotenoid found in abundance in watermelon, improves cardiac functions. Beta carotene, known for its remarkable antioxidant and anti-aging properties, also keeps you young at heart and prevents age-related cardiac problems. The roughage in water melon and its very low energy, along with help from vitamin-C, carotenoids and potassium (potassium cuts the risk of a heart attack), helps to reduce cholesterol and keep your heart safe from a variety of dangerous conditions. hope you have learned a lot  see you next time.
